Mother of Prophet Jesus, was about to give birth to Jesus, she suffered a lot because she was alone and there was no body to support her.

The Quran narrates the very moments of Jesus’ birth in the following words:

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, “Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten.”

But he called her from below her, “Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, ‘Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.’” (Maryam 19:23-26)

From the first verse we can conclude that Lady Mary suffered severe labor pains.

An Angel approached Mary and asked her not to be sad and that God made available to her a river from which she can drink. The angel asked her to shake the trunk of the palm tree so that she can eat fresh dates in a season not known for producing such dates and this is in itself a miracle.

The angel also asked Mary to be contented with what God has given her, i.e. her baby Jesus who is going to be a prophet in the future. By this, God has honored Mary and protected her reputation against the false accusation made by her people.

In the following verses, we read what means:

Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.” (Maryam 19:27-28)

Her people accused her of lack of chastity. Being sure of her chastity, she pointed to her child to speak the truth.

Her people reacted saying:

So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?” (Mary 19:29)

Answering this, Jesus was give the miracle of speaking in the cradle. We read:

[Jesus] said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive.

And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive. (Maryam 19:30)
