We’ll always know her best as Sinead O\u2019Connor, but now she\u2019s got yet another new name, Shuhada\u2019 Davitt, and a new religion, Islam<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shuhada\u2019, also previously known as Magda, revealed on Twitter last week that she\u2019s ditched the Catholic Church<\/a> for good.\u00a0You\u2019ll remember many moons ago that she was an ordained priest<\/a> in a breakaway Catholic sect and used to walk around in a priestly collar, but no more.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim. This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian\u2019s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam<\/a>. Which makes all other scriptures redundant. I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada\u2019,\u201d Sine\u2026sorry, Shuhada\u2019, tweeted.<\/p>\n

Shuhada\u2019, who underwent intensive mental health treatment in the U.S. last year with help from Dr. Phil, posted a video of herself singing the Azan<\/a>, the Muslim call to prayer. Her voice is still in fine form, but she lamented her performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere is my 1st attempt at singing the Azan. I got some pronouncition (sic) wrong because emotions took me from my page… but there\u2019ll be hundreds of others onstage to come …,\u201d she wrote.\u00a0 \u201cWhen I\u2019ve practiced it 30 times i\u2019m Gonna make the world stop turning.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s rocking some Muslim garb too as you can see from the photo. \u201cMy best friend, Elaine just gave me my 1st Hijab<\/a> and she got chills all over her body when I put it on. Not gonna post a photo because is intensely personal. And I\u2019m an ugly old hag. But I\u2019m a very, very, very happy old hag,\u201d Shuhada\u2019 proclaimed.<\/p>\n

Shuhada\u2019 \u2013 still identified as Sinead O\u2019Connor in the\u00a0Daily Mail\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0exclusive report on Monday — sings lead vocals, and proceeds from the project will go to charities raising awareness about cancer.<\/p>\n
