Why does Islam prohibit a Muslim to drink alcohol?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allah says in the Qur\u2019an:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O you who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination \u2013 of Satan\u2019s handiwork;  eschew such (abomination), that you may prosper. (Al-Ma\u2019idah 5:90)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: \u201cAlcohol is the mother of all evils and it is the most shameful of evils.\u201d (Ibn-I-Majah)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But is Islam the only religion that prohibits drinking alcohol? What do other scriptures say about that? Is there a mention in the Bible, for example, about this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And why is alcohol prohibited in the first place?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
