Marriage in Islam is a sacred bond. Marriage is the only lawful means to build a sound family.
Marriage in Islam is built on love, mercy and compassion. We read in the Quran what means:
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” (Ar-Rum 30:21)
Islam is a religion of reality. Islam recognizes the human feeling of love. The Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have expressed his love to his wives in different situation. Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the most beloved wife to the Prophet.
Sexual desire is a human instinct. Sex is not prohibited in Islam. Islam legalizes sex only through the legal relationship of marriage. Islam prohibits marriage outside the framework of marriage.
Therefore, once a Muslim has the means to get married, he should do so.
Allah says what means:
“And marry such of you as are solitary and the pious of your slaves and maid servants. If they be poor; Allah will enrich them of His bounty. Allah is of ample means, Aware.” (An-Nur 24:32)
When men and women interact, they should abide by the rules of the Quran. We read in the Quran what means:
“Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.” (An-Nur 24:30-31)
