Why Do Muslims Believe in Life after Death?

Why, as Muslims, do we believe in the life after death? What is our belief in the Hereafter  based on? In other words, how can you prove logically the existence of the Hereafter? Is it a logical belief in the first place?

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your (full) compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained (his desire). And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. (Aal `Imran 3:185)

Still, many people wonder how a person with a scientific and logical temperament, can lend any credence to the belief of the Hereafter. People assume that anyone believing in the Hereafter is doing so on the basis of blind belief.

And if Islam is a logical religion, how do you justify life after death? Is life after death a blind or a logical belief? Why do really believe in it? And why is that belief critical for human life and human values?

He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving. (Al-Mulk 67:2)
