What Should You Do Between the Two Khutbahs of Jumuah Prayer?
Question:
What shall I say when the Imam sits between the two khutbahs (Sermon) of Jumu`ah (Friday Prayer)?
Answer:
Friday Prayer is a congregational prayer which consists of two separate khutbahs and two rak`ahs led by the imam. This payer has rules and regulations taken from Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and every imam should follow them.
`Abdullah Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to give two khutbahs and he used to sit between them. (Al-Bukhari)
When Sheikh Ibn `Uthaimeen was asked if there a specific supplication or dhikr that a Muslim may say between the khutbahs of Jumuah.
He said, “There is no specific dhikr or supplication (duaa), rather a person may say whatever supplication he wants, because this is a time when supplications are answered. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “On Friday there is a time when no Muslim slave asks Allah for something when he is standing and praying but He will give it to him.” (Agreed upon)
