What Is the Ruling of Running Fingers through the Beard in Wudu?

Running Fingers through the Beard in Wudu

Question:

What if I do not run my fingers through my beard during wudu (ablution)?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

First of all, washing the face is one of the pillars of wudu (ablution) including hair of one’s beard. If one’s beard is not thin (the skin can be seen beneath it), he does not have to run his fingers through it. It is required to wash it and be certain that water has reached the underneath skin like the other parts of the face. If it is thick and the skin cannot be seen through it, the outer surface only has to be washed, but it is recommended to run the fingers through it.
