Breaking Ablution During Prayer
Question:
What is correct way to leave the prayer (salah) if I happen to break wudu’ (ablution)? Do I have to get out of the prayer to perform the ablution while the prayer is still going on and thus disturbing to the rows behind me by passing between them?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
First of all, taharah (purification) is a prescribed condition for the validity of the prayer. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “The prayer of a person who does Hadath (passes urine, stool or wind) is not accepted till he performs the ablution. “A person from Hadaramout asked Abu Hurairah, “What is ‘Hadath‘? “Abu Hurairah replied, “‘Hadath’ means the passing of wind.” (Al-Bukhari)
Therefore, If one passes wind during prayers or breaks ones ablution, that person must leave the prayers immediately, perform the ablution and then perform the prayer again.
