Rulings of Tasleem in Prayer
Question:
What is the ruling of my prayer if I left the second tasleem (the salutation to end the prayer) due to an emergency?
Answer:
Th Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers”. (Al-Bukhari)
At the end of the prayer, one should make tasleem which means to say the salutation: “As-salamu `alaykum wa raḥmatullah” to the right and the left.
Sa`d ibn Abi Waqqaṣ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) pronouncing tasleem on his right and on his left, until I saw the whiteness of his cheek.” (Muslim)
But in case one concludes his prayer with one tasleem instead of two, would such prayer be valid or not?
`A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say tasleem once while facing straight and leaning slightly to the right side. (Al-Hakim and At-Tirmidhi)
