House of trials…
We are in this life, in the abode of ibtila’, not steadiness
What is meant by ibtila’ Dr? It means trials and tests
Isn’t it about t punishment? No way! There are two distinct meanings:
The popular meaning which is negative; when we say that ‘someone who was tested with poverty and he passed it; i.e. he refrained from asking”
Meaning he was tested with poverty and he patiently endured it, didn’t beg of people, and worked hard. Another one may be tested with richness
They are tested with richness and they passed; they spent out of his wealth; gave in charity to the poor and the needy. He wasn’t arrogant
So, Dr, in accordance with Islamic Law, the term ibtila’ doesn’t mean punishment, does it?
Certainly not!
It’s the popular meaning which is negative
Good! “We are ever putting mankind to the test” (Al-Mu’minun 23:30) The reason for our existence is to be put to the test
“He who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving .” (Al-Mulk 67:2)
The Prophets had been tested and passed, and it was never a punishment, but rather a test
So back to the hadith we began with our Doctor,
“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. “ (Ibn Majah)
First of all sir, no one on earth will ever smell the fragrance of Paradise until they are put to test
It was asked: should we ask Allah for trials or for establishment in strength? Strength in regards to money, knowledge, position,
Health, a big house, a high income, etc. So, should we ask Allah for what: trials or establishment in strength?
The answer was: you will not be established in strength until you are tested
To shed more light on this, you may hate exams that you take in college, which is all about tests and exams
Can one earn a Ph.D. without examination? Those who didn’t read a book, for example, flirting with girls in college
Should this earn a Ph.D.? Without examination! Therefore, one cannot get to paradise without trials
“The Prophets are the most severely tested of the people. And I – the noble and generous Prophet, peace be upon him –am the most severely tested of them”
Then the righteous, then the most righteous . Man is tried according to the their religion
Can this be life? An easy life! A big house! A high income! Mixed-gender soirees! Cars!
A summer in a mountain here and there! Swimming! That’s all!

Putting it differently, we will never smell the fragrance of Paradise until we are put to trial
